# Catalog and templates

> Choose the treatments your organization prescribes, and save prescriptions as templates.

The catalog and templates save prescribers time. The **catalog** is the short list of treatments your organization prescribes. A **template** is a prescription built from one of them, with the sig and dispense filled in.

## Catalog

Administrators manage the catalog under **Settings → Catalog**: [Neutron](https://app.neutron.health/settings/catalog) · [Photon](https://app.photon.health/settings/catalog).

Drug search marks treatments that are in your catalog. Prescribers can still choose one that isn't.

To add one, open **Catalog**, click **Add treatment to catalog** and search for it. Removing a treatment can't be undone, but you can add it again.

## Templates

A template is a saved prescription with the drug, sig and dispense filled in, so prescribers don't type the same prescription twice. There are two kinds:

* **Organization templates** are shared by everyone in your organization. Administrators create them under **Settings → Templates** ([Neutron](https://app.neutron.health/settings/templates) · [Photon](https://app.photon.health/settings/templates)) from a treatment in the catalog. Medical Operations and Staff can manage them too.
* **Personal templates** belong to one prescriber, who saves them while prescribing.

Add a treatment to the catalog before you make an organization template for it.

### Start a prescription from a template

Each template has an id (`tmp_…`), shown under **Templates**. Pass it as `templateId` to draft a prescription from it. The prescriber only reviews and signs.
